  Ab- \Ab-\ ([a^]b). [Latin prep., etymologically the same as E.
     of, off. See Of.]
     A prefix in many words of Latin origin. It signifies from,
     away, separating, or departure, as in abduct, abstract,
     abscond. See A-(6).
