Extol \Ex*tol"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Extolled; p. pr. & vb. n.
Extolling.] [L. extollere; ex out + tollere to lift, take
up, or raise: cf. OF. extoller. See Tollerate, and cf.
1. To place on high; to lift up; to elevate. [Obs.]
Who extolled you in the half-crown boxes,
Where you might sit and muster all the beauties.

2. To elevate by praise; to eulogize; to praise; to magnify;
as, to extol virtue; to extol an act or a person.
